Tell us a little about your love story.
Luke and I met at a friend's birthday party in 2017, right before I was about to move to Sydney. We felt a connection instantly and he came to Sydney to see me after I moved, but with us both being so young and me moving away from Perth, everything just fell apart and we didn't speak for 3 years! Fast forward to 2021, I was in Perth on holiday with my bestie and I messaged him (after those 3 years of no communication whatsoever), he showed up at the bar we were at about 10 minutes later and we have been inseparable ever since. We got engaged in 2023 under the EiffelTower in Paris… I was so shocked I didn't even say yes I just said 'shut up' a million times.
What was the vision behind your wedding? Are there any bridal trends did you leant into?
I wanted everything to be very classic and timeless, and avoid too many trends! We got married at my parents’ house on the Sunshine Coast which is very tropical, so I tried to tie the elements of the tropics with the classic look I was going for. For example, we hung the seating chart from our palm tree in the garden but used a calligrapher for the stationery and signage, so that element was timeless against the more tropical look. I spent countless hours drawing inspiration from social media, I loved choosing every element, but the thing that helped the most was leaning into the venue. If you don't do that then you open yourself up to a million different options and it's way too overwhelming, go with the look of your venue!!
What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?
I would say our vows. Luke is a man of action not of words and I knew he would be nervous to speak, so I loved that he put so much thought into his vows and stepped out of his comfort zone because he knew it was important to me! I also loved the planning and lead up, my mum and I worked so hard on every element, and we were so proud of our work on the day.
What was your inspiration behind your bridal looks?
I struggled so much finding a bridal look at first and tried on a lot of different dresses, but when I found J. Andreatta. I knew I loved that style of feminine and whimsical, and it was so lucky that the bridal boutique near my parents house stocked them. I fell in love with every one of their dresses I put on and it was an immediate yes to the dress :) After that I chose my styling around the dress!
What’s one piece of advice you would give to brides-to-be?
Remain calm, not just on the day but from the very beginning. All of my bad decisions were made through panic, you've got time, everything is going to work out. Don't do things just because everyone else is doing them, question what is important to you! Also, get a content creator for the day!
