Production & Buying Manager

Role Intention:

 by charlotte is seeking a Full-Time Production & Buying Manager based in our Alexandria Head office.

The ideal candidate will hold at least 5 years of experience in on and offshore production within a relevant industry. They will have proven experience identifying new manufacturing opportunities whilst optimising a current supplier network to deliver best-in-class procurement and ensure a quality product is delivered on time. They will be experienced negotiators to ensure optimal brand value can be delivered to our customers. They will align with the empowering culture we have fostered at by charlotte

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Design to source, develop and deliver product objectives per priorities, on time and on budget.
  • Sets the Critical Path & Product Development objectives, deliverables, accountabilities, and processes. In alignment with the Heads of, vets and approves related functions and resources to meet objectives. 
  • Accountable for Critical Path success and communication. Identifies pain points and takes action to resolve current challenges, mitigate risks, and uphold best practices. 
  • Actively seeks external sourcing and manufacturing partners to build a robust and value-generating supplier pipeline.
  • Establishes productive supplier relationships, including evaluation and vetting of core competencies, manufacturing capacity, raw materials, sample process, delivery timelines, pricing, and QC. Negotiates terms of trade.
  • Manages and drives the internal QC process to ensure the product is meeting expectations and negating any long-term issues.
  • Delivers product construction, material supply, and component deliverables to meet cost, quality/ grade, timeline, and volume objectives.
  • Drives the RJC Certification process and ensures the business’ sustainability manufacturing goals are achieved and that internal processes align to plan.
  • Source of truth for planning, process function, status updates, and key information related to Suppliers, Procurement, and Critical Path. Lead communicator between internal and external stakeholders.  

 

Desired Skills & Expertise:

  • Minimum of 4 years, of experience leading in a Production and/or Buying role within Jewellery, Accessories, Apparel or Giftware.   
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with senior internal stakeholders and cultural sensitivity to all external offshore stakeholders.  
  • Solid understanding of critical path and timelines, with exceptional time management skills 
  • Sound business acumen with the ability to read, interpret and analyse business data, particularly in a production facility context. 
  • Sound verbal and written communication, with effective listening and negotiation skills. 
  • Sound conflict resolution and collaboration skills, with the demonstrated ability to use internal and external networks to resolve issues. 
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
